CCC is a Detroit-based collective and clothing brand founded by indie designer Christopher Nichols with a mission to foster positivity, collaboration, and inclusivity. The name "Community College Club" represents our core belief—a club for everyone, where creativity and community thrive.
What began as a playful concept after Chris’ high school graduation (2017) evolved into a full-fledged movement. After graduation, he transformed ideas into reality, crafting CCC’s first tees and hoodies. Driven by passion, he later acquired his own screen-printing equipment, allowing the brand to operate entirely in-house.
Today, CCC is powered by a tight-knit collective of 12 multi-disciplinary creatives—producers, artists, photographers, videographers, and visionaries—united by years of trust and shared purpose. Together, we create more than apparel; we build connections and amplify positive change.
Mendax is a cornerstone of CCC’s philosophy, symbolizing the pursuit of higher creative knowledge. The term originates from the Latin word Mendacium (meaning "lies/falsehood"), reimagined by founder Christopher Nichols as a bold counterpoint to conventional wisdom.
The concept emerged when Chris, drawing inspiration from Ivy League branding, studied Harvard’s motto—Veritas ("Truth"). Intrigued, he sought its antithesis, discovering Mendacium. To refine it into a resonant mantra, he adapted the adjective form: Mendax.
Rooted in his high school Latin studies, Mendax transcends its literal meaning. For CCC, it represents a challenge—to question norms, embrace unconventional thinking, and elevate creativity as a new standard of truth.
